Hey Roosters! I had a lovely weekend and I hope you did too! Book 2 went very well, and is now available in the Take off! store
The dudes at The Emerald city comic con let me do the cover for the program book this year. So I drew the convention center escalators full of characters from the creators that are gonna be at the show.
They’re all or mostly all creator owned (with the exception of the Bubble gum crisis Priss)
This was lots of fun to draw, I’ll post a guide to who everyone is later.
duss005 asked: im so glad they let you back in the country.
There’s still a chance they block me again though
theultranerd asked: I'm sure it varies page to page, but on average, how long would you say it usually takes you to pencil a page? Do you have any tips on building speed or time management?
For me, I find the best way to build speed was to constantly challenge yourself. Sometimes no matter how long you take on a page you seem to not be able to do what you want, I always finish those as best I can then try to use what I learned on one page to make the next one better. I never let myself take more than 2 days on a page and I stick to that. But I do realize too that my speed usually hindered my ability to really focus on a page and give it the love it deserves so really damned if you do, damned if you don’t :S
My pick ups from Toronto Comic Con this past weekend. Thanks to the Silver Snail :) Now I want some jambalaya….
novaface asked: Oh my gosh Marcus, your Tim as Tuxedo Mask drawing was wonderful, how much would I have to bribe you to draw Steph as Princess Serenity? :P
Hehehe I’ll add it to the list of what ppl want me to sketch and maybe make that a daily sketch thing :)
extravirgintimdrake asked: Excusé moi, Mr. To, but I'm going to be cosplaying Unternet Tim in Calgary this year. If you come to Calgary Expo, would you cosplay Batgirl or Wondergirl with me?
hehe I would love to but you would have to convince the guys that run the con to bring me back to the convention :)
taggingtim asked: I was wondering if you keep an updated list of scheduled appearances anywhere. Do you have any idea which conventions you're going to be at in 2014? Thanks!
I am very bad with updating my schedule but for now my conventions are ECCC in a few weeks and Toronto Fan Expo for sure, SDCC and NYCC possible (waiting on confirmation) and maybe SEE (Saskatoon Entertainment Expo) I am trying to see if I can go to 1 or 2 more this year but I don’t travel all that much normally.
vladbride asked: I was wondering if it would be possible to get a sketch from you at ECCC and how I might go about that
The best way to go about this is to come see me at the con on Friday and be put on the list. I usually have one open Friday-mid Saturday. I hope to see you there!
justplainsomething asked: You always end up drawing women as appealing while still maintaining their humanity. I never feel the foul queasiness of the male gaze when it comes to your art. Thanks for being so quality.
Well thank you for the kind words :) I still have much to learn about drawing women
